The Green Funeral Company
Green Funeral Services Devon and Cornwall
“Today was perfect, it was so right, stripped down to basics, yet so powerful and emotional. Your opening words were so special and framed the day, it is an amazing skill to have. Thank you Claire and Ru, for being our best friends for ten days, for going beyond the call of duty, for your punk attitude, for giving so much of your time, for listening so attentively, your honesty and objectivity and for facilitating the perfect goodbye. If I had unlimited resources I couldn’t have chosen any better setting or would have done anything differently.”
We were totally thrilled to be named
Funeral Director Of The Year
at the Good Funeral Guide Awards 2012
Throughout our website we have included, in italics, some of the incredibly kind words that people have written to us in letters after funerals. Whilst we haven"t credited anyone we would like to thank every single one of them and say they all made me cry again as I re read them to put up them here.
At the Green Funeral Company, Claire and Rupert Callender aim to help the living to honour their dead.
A funeral can be a reflection and celebration of a life, as well as an acknowledgement of a loss, and we believe in helping and supporting families in choosing a funeral that is most in keeping for the person who has died.
The funeral is an important part of the healing process and for many people, involvement at this time is the beginning of letting go. We give families the opportunity to be as involved as they wish to be in the practical and emotional stages involved in saying goodbye.
Green Funerals respects the environment, and we offer coffins made from ecologically friendly materials such as wicker and bamboo, and can arrange for woodland burials, churchyard burials and cremations in sites throughout Devon and Cornwall.
We have experience in arranging funerals that encompass diverse religious and spiritual beliefs, and endeavour to facilitate the wishes of the deceased and their families.
We have been privileged to arrange funerals as diverse as a Catholic Requiem Mass and a Pagan ritual at a stone circle on Bodmin Moor. We have led a coffin through a torch lit wood with a 40 piece Samba band and we have stood in silence with four people around a grave.
People are as different in death as they are in life, and we believe that a funeral is not an event that you turn up to, it is something that we create together.
"I never realised a funeral coud be so sane and civilised, thank you for making it just so"
