All of the coffins we sell are environmentally friendly, ranging from woven bamboo, banana or willow, through to cardboard coffins.
The majority of people in the UK are buried or cremated in chipboard coffins, which are wood-chips held together with resins and formaldehyde, covered in fake veneer and dressed with plastic handles, all of which emit toxins into the earth for over 100 years when buried, or into the air if cremated.
All our coffins, and urns, are chosen to reduce this negative impact, as well as being produced from sustainable sources.
We also sell coffins and urns independently of our funeral services.
Please note that Crematoriums require that the coffin is identified with a nameplate and the person’s legal name. This can put onto a simple piece of card which we can provide, but if you wish to have a carved name plate, there will be an extra charge of £30. This is not applicable to the cardboard coffins, unless you wish to have a printed nameplate design. This cost would be dependent on style.
For coffins that require adjusting, either in width, and/or length (if over 6’2”) there will be an extra charge of £40 per adjustment.
