Thoughtfully designed gardens of remembrance provide a tranquil place for reflection, while facilities can be adapted to individual wishes and traditions. Please note, attitudes to service time, special requests, candles, animals being present etc vary from place to place, so please ask if there is something specific that you wish to have.

Torbay Crematorium, Torquay

Run by Westerleigh Group. Duration and cost varies significantly throughout the day!

From 1st April 2026, Monday to Friday, through the main part of the day (from 11.30am – 4.30pm and at 6pm and 8pm) you can book 60 minutes of chapel time, including entrance and exit, for £1495.

There are two 60 minute slots, one at 9.30am and one at 4.30pm, which costs £995.

There is one 60 minute slot at 10.30 which costs £1395, and one at 3.30 for £1375.

There are three 30 minute options,  at 8.30am, 9.00am and 6.30pm, at £895. 

Additional hours may be booked, for an extra £395.

Uses Obitus Music System and can offer a single photo tribute for free. Steaming, extra photos and keepsakes are offered at extra cost. See the website for details.

Exeter and Devon Crematorium

Owned and run by Dignity. A crematorium with two chapels St Pauls (smaller) and St Peter (big) and extensive mature gardens. Costs vary depending on the time of day.

From 2nd January 2026, between 10am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, and 6pm to 8pm, a 60 minute attended cremation is £1350. 

There are two 60 minute slots at 9am and 4pm, which costs £995. 

A further reduced fee is available, where you can have a 30 minute service at 8.30am, 9am, 5pm and 5.30pm is available for £775.

Additional time of 60 minutes can be booked at £700.

Music, and one photo  is offered free. Photos, streaming and recording are charged – see website for details.

The Park Crematorium, Plymouth

Owned and run by Plymouth City Council. Newly built, with three ceremonial rooms of varying sizes, a cafe and lots of parking outsideeach of the ceremony spaces.

Ceremony Room 1 is the largest, and has seating for 120 with additional standing. Ceremony Room 2 has seating for 80 and additional standing. Ceremony Room 3 has seating for 12.

There is a wake facility function room too if requested.

From April 1st 2026 the costs for an attended service are –

£1125 for a 30 minute service.

£1230 for a 45 minute service.

£1630 for a 90 minute service.

For no service, but with up to 15 mourners in attendance, the cost is £770.

For a non attended cremation the cost is £550.

Music is free but all other audio and visual services have a fee. A single photo is £17. Streaming – Live and On Demand is £57. See the website for further details.

East Devon Crematorium

Part of an independent co-operative society, Southern Co-op, and set in rural surroundings, this crematorium also works in partnership with the Devon Wildlife Trust. It’s spacious and modern.

As of February 2026, Monday to Friday, the standard cremation fee is £1115. This is available between 10am and 4pm and gives 45 minutes of chapel use.

There is a reduced fee, allowing 20 minutes of chapel time, at 9.15am for £875.

A non-attended service is £480.

Additional service time, giving a further 45 minutes, costs £560.

Wesley Media is used for audio and music. Music is free, as is one stock image from their library. A personal photo costs £27. Slideshows, streaming and tributes all have their own costs. See their website for details. 

Barnstaple Crematorium

North Devon Crematorium is the only crematorium in the North Devon area. The buildings sit within beautiful memorial gardens. 

There are two chapels available:

Aspen is capable of seating 66 mourners for smaller services. Music can be provided by a digital music system or a professional organist, when available.

Rowan can accommodate extremely large services with seating for over 250 mourners and a quiet viewing room. The chapel is able to webcast services as well as playing music, video tributes and recording. 

Service times are available at 45 minute intervals (service duration 30 minutes) with the ability to book a ‘double-service’.

Fees for the 1st April 2026 – 31st March 2027 are as follows:

A 30 minute attended service is £999. To extend this to an hour, is an additional £340.

There is the option to have a shorter service, for 15 minutes, at 8.45am, which costs £799.

For an unattended cremation, you can book a service at 8am or 8.15 and this costs £350. At 8.30am is the chance to have up to 10 mourners attend, but with no service, for £499.

Cancellations are strict and can occur a charge of £185 if within 72 hours of the service date, and service overruns are also charged. They are strict about leaving extremely promptly and will charge £390 if you are not out the chapel in your allotted time.

Glynn Valley Crematorium, Bodmin

Owned and run by Dignity. This is possibly the nicest crematorium we use. Beautiful floor to ceiling window looking out down a beautiful valley, occasionally a steam train puffs past, and rabbits can be seen hopping about on the grass. Staff helpful and accommodating.

From 2nd January 2026 the following costs apply to services held Monday – Friday.

Between 10am and 4.30pm a 60 minute service is £1295. This slot of an an hour allows 15 minutes for people to arrive and leave, which leaves 45 minutes, which is fine. There is also a Twilight Service between 6pm and 8pm, of an hour, for the same cost.

At 9am you can book either a 15 minute service, or a 30 minute service, for £795 or £850 respectively.

At 9.30 you can have a 60 minute service for £950.

And at 5.30pm you can have a 30 minute service for £850.

Additional time of an hour costs £700.

Music and media is provided via Obitus. Music is free, as is a single photo tribute. Further media options, including live streaming, have costs that can be found on their website.  

Penmount Crematorium, Truro

Owned and run by Local authority. Beautiful extensive gardens. Extremely good new soundsystem and uses Obitus for their music and visual media. The smaller of the two chapels, Kerow chapel, is the nicest, with high windows, and a real Cornish Wesleyen feel. It can have up to 55 seated. Trelawny Chapel has seating for 110 plus standing.

From 1st April 2026 the cost is £1259 for a 60 minute service.

Additional chapel time of 60 minutes costs £315.

There are off-peak options at 9am, 9.30am, 4pm and 4.30pm (Monday – Thursday and Friday 9am and 9.30 only) which costs £889.

Taunton Deane Crematorium

Run by Somerset County Council. Time allowed varies depending on the time of day.

This is a light and airy crematorium, well designed, but with the pressure of a busy urban crematorium. Has an Obitus Sound System.

Costs for 2026 – 2027 are as follows.

For a full cremation service of 40 minutes, including entry and exit times, this is £1142, and is available between 10am and 4pm.

An early chapel ceremony of 9.00am or 9.30am is £495 for 30 minutes, 20 people maximum.

An extended service is an additional £215. 

A non attended cremation, available at 8.30 and 8.45 (can be witnessed by a maximum of 2 people) is £450.

There is a penalty for over-running, which will kick in swiftly and applies for the initial over-run and every subsequent 5 minute period following – at the cost of £80.
