OUR COSTS

We believe funeral costs should be clear, fair and free of surprises, so our prices are set out openly with a simple structure that covers our time, expertise and the care we give...

Our pricing works like this...

Our professional, undertaking fees cover everything we do directly, from the moment we bring the person into our care to the final arrangements on the day. In the majority of cases, these fees stay the same no matter how much time we spend with you, and we never add hidden charges for things like vigils at home or separate ceremony/cremation days.

There are also some third-party costs (known as disbursements) that we pay on your behalf up front. This includes the cost of the crematorium, where applicable.

Disbursements such as celebrants, orders of service, or newspaper notices vary depending on your choices. Where we are responsible for payment, we will aim to give you the figures in advance, to help you choose options that fit your wishes and budget. We do not add on any extra to these costs.

Whether you want a simple, direct cremation or a highly personal burial, we’ll guide you through each step and provide a clear breakdown of costs before you make any decisions.

Undertaking Fees

£2,650

Our professional fees include the following, noting that we will do as much or as little as you require:

There is no extra cost for bringing someone home* the night before the funeral for a vigil, or for the cremation to be on a different day from the ceremony.

Taking the Service

£350

You are welcome to use your own celebrant, or to hold the ceremony yourselves, but we also offer the option to have us hold the ceremony.

If we are to hold the service, this includes:

*Extra mileage, outside the 20 mile radius, is charged at £1.50 per mile.

The Undertaking Fees do not cover the following (known in the trade as disbursements):

These are third party costs and therefore are variable depending on the choices you make.

Your Choices, Coffins & Disbursements

Coffins: If you wish to purchase a coffin from us, these options can be found on the Coffins Page.

Our coffins range from £350 for a cardboard coffin to £700 for woven bamboo, banana or wicker, to £900 for willow, and up to £1500 for a felt shroud for cremation.

We are happy for you to provide your own coffin.

We also can sell our coffins independently to our funeral service.

Direct Cremation

£2,600

This is a specific kind of funeral where the cremation happens without mourners attending. The cremation usually happens either early morning or late afternoon.

The Professional Fee in the option above, which offers our unlimited time, is not available in this circumstance.

The Direct Cremation includes the following:

Extras & Logistics

We consider ourselves to be one of the most creative and accommodating undertakers but hard won experience has taught us that some funerals are so bespoke that further charges will need to be negotiated, depending on extravagance and complexity.

There is an additional charge of £400 if you wish to hold the funeral on a Saturday. £550 on a Sunday.

For collection of ashes – £25

Financial Help

It may be possible to claim some costs from DWP in particular circumstances. Details can be found on their website https://www.gov.uk/funeral-payments

They require the invoice and details about the Applicant and the person who has died. We can offer help and support at no cost, if you wish to apply. Do not expect to get all costs reimbursed, but they are a very helpful department and more efficient than others.
