PLANNING YOUR OWN FUNERAL
Finding out that either your own life, or someone you know, is going to end soon can be very difficult to face, and everyone responds differently to this news...
It can be very overwhelming, and you can feel very alone, but there is a lot of support out there and people on hand to help guide you through the process.
It may not be easy to talk about your own death, but a simple conversation about your wishes can really help those who will be organising it, and can make a hard time just a little bit easier for them.
Our funerals are our emotional legacy. And a good funeral is created with the belief that it honours the person who has died but is for the benefit of the living.

Our funerals are our emotional legacy. And a good funeral is created with the belief that it honours the person who has died but is for the benefit of the living.
Planning your own funeral does not mean leaving a long detailed list of wishes and prescriptive instructions, but giving an idea, a framework, allows those who are arranging it to have confidence that they are observing your wishes.
It may be worth asking yourself a few questions, to help you think about what you would like to happen when you die. These may include whether you’d like to be cremated or buried? What type of service you would like. If you have any specific songs you’d like played or any particular poem or reading you’d like to be read.
If you can, discuss your wishes with the people who matter so they know what you want.
We are also happy to help you put together a plan for your funeral and can help talk you through your circumstances and what you would like.
Pre Paid Funeral Plans
If you wish to be even more organised, then there is the option of arranging for a Pre-paid funeral plan. This is a simple and practical way of sorting both the financial and emotional worry that unexpected funerals can bring.
The large companies all offer their own funeral plans, but it is possible to set up one that uses independent undertakers like us. Because of regulation of prepaid funeral plans by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) we are unable to give advice on who to use, but you can search the internet for FCA approved prepaid funeral plan providers. When you find an independent company you like, you can approach them directly and can name your nominated funeral director. They will be able to talk you through the process.
