Wicker Coffin
£700
Rattan, which makes these beautiful coffins, is a climbing vine that can grow up to six meters a year, making it a rapidly renewable material. It grows throughout the forests of South East Asia. Because the vine clings to existing rainforest trees as it grows, it encourages the natural preservation of the forest and local fauna. Plantation owners actively manage large forest areas to keep renewed growth cycles intact.
Bands of natural rattan are woven together to create this coffin. The chestnut appearance comes from the rattan’s outer bark, and colours can vary.
The coffins are available in two shapes, curved end and traditional. Both styles have natural rope handles and are fully fitted with natural linings, pillows and covers.
These coffins can be used for burial or cremation. If a nameplate is required for cremation, this will be an extra £30.
